When making a gerber file for a board, the symbol of what looks like a circle is used, actually an arc. After bringing the file into a gerber viewer, and
exporting it as a DXF into AutoCad 2009. the arc becomes a dot, this cannot be seen or is very hard to see in a drill drawing. The hole size
is .0354331(very oddball size). The board also has a .035 hole with an "x" as a symbol. I was able to go into the DXF file and copy the "x" over the ARC.
On a small board like this (82 times), just a little time consuming. When saved as a drawing the "x" appears with the dot next to it. Wouldn't it just be easier to use a full circle as a symbol? How can this be corrected? Also, do I have to go into the Multisim library footprint and change all these oddball drill sizes every time I use one? This is a small board, I just see using 200 resistors and having to go through all this.
Thanks for the help.

Hi,
When you generate the drill symbol chart in Gerber, there is no option available to select the symbol for eachdrill size. I will create a feature request for this issue but right now, you have to use your work around.

I am currently having a problem exporting a Gerber - Drill Symbols file from Ultiboard.
My board has four layers, but my Drill Symbols.gbr file only shows the drill holes which go all the way through, top to bottom. What's wrong? I want to include the blind vias as well, i.e. the drill holes which go from top to inner 1 layer, and from bottom to inner 2 layer.
When I export the NC drill files, the separate drill layer files are generated properly. I want to use the Gerber option though, as described above, because it auto generates a drill symbol chart with hole count. I can use that to make a fab drawing for my board much more conveniently.
Any ideas? Thanks

I just realized what the problem was....
The default output for Ultiboard is to make all the drill layer files the same color (which should be corrected btw) and what's worse that default color is black! Naturallly, black doesn't show up on black screen grid. I was viewing the gerber in another viewing program, but when I tried to view it in Ultiboard for the first time, I realized the issue. Change the layer colors, and voila, problem solved.
