European transistors

Hello

I am based in Europe and use transistors like BC550 / BC337 etc. I have tried to use the component designer but failed miserably 🙂

Could someone please let me know if there is database entries or could someone please make them for me? 🙂

BC550C NPN Silicon and BC560C PNP complementary

Vceo=45V

Vebo=5V

Ic = 100mA

Icm = 200mA (but I would not try it)

Ibm = 200mA

Ptot = 500mW

hFE=530 from 30uA to 10mA drops to 300 at 100mA and to 480 at 10uA

Collector capacitance:2pF at 40V, 3pF at 10V, 4pF at 4V, 7pF at 1V

CurrentGainBandwidth= 100MHz at 1mA, 60MHz at 0.4mA, 200MHz at 5mA, 250MHz at 10mA, 200MHz at 40mA

Many thanks

Hi Akis,

I have managed to find a model for a BC550BP which I assume is a different transistor. This transistor is installed by default in Multisim 10.1.1. If neither of these transistors are available in Multisim, you can make your own components. To do this however, you will need to get hold of the SPICE model for the component so you can create the custom component.

This link here gives details of many different  component manufacturers and where you can find their SPICE models.

Once you have a SPICE model, you can then use the component import wizard to create these additional components. Please follow the instructions here.

Please let me know how you get on.

Both components are available in the Multisim database.  The BC550BP component should be fine for simulation purposes, so long as you're not concerned with having the package parasitcs modeled (which are rarely modeled anyway).  The BP suffix simply denotes a different package type.

Thanks fo the reply. based on the previous comment posted, I have followed the link and went to Fairchild and downloaded a "PSPICE" lib for the BC550, let's see how that goes. I am particularly interested in the "C" type which has hfe of about 520 for a good range.

Err, it appears MultiSim wants a different kind of files for "SPICE" (I cannot remember the extension) but what I downloaded from Fairchild has a ".lib" extension...

In order for Multisim to to recognize the model, change the extension from .lib to .cir.  You could also open the .lib file using a text editor, and then copy and paste the contents into the Model data field.

Much appreciated, I will try to remember to try tonight.

OK, so I used the file but it is not working at all well. Here is the file in case I am being exceedingly slow...
