Hi,
I have created design in Ultiboard 13.0 and need to export the Gerber files for my final project. Unfortunately, my college doesn't have a license for 13.0 (only 12.0) and they can't install 12.0 on my computer due to Microsoft Silverlight errors. I can't seem to export the files in the evaluation version. Is there some backward compatibly that will allow me to save some of my work if I take it to a university computer or some other fix that I can apply, or should I export the netlist in Multisim and start over?
Thank you for your help,
Anna

Hi Anna,
Ultiboard is not backwards compatible, you will not be able to open a v.13 file in v12. As you mentioned, one limitation of the evalulation edition is that exporting and printing files is disabled. Also, take into consideration that exporting files is not a feature of Multisim Student Edition (in case you decide to buy it). Only the Education edition will allow you to export Gerber files.
Are you planning to send the Gerber files to a manufacturer. Sunstone Circuits accepts native files, including Ultiboard files. Click here to explore this option.
Another idea is to ask your college for version 13. Maybe they are eligible for the update but they haven't installed it.
Finally, exporting the netlist in Multisim 13 and opening it in v.12 could work but you will need to double check everthing works as expected. My best recommendation here is to give it a try.
