Footprint design, different pads and via's placed on the same net (and other questions)

Ultiboard 11.0.1 (11.0.691)

  • New footprint design:
I've multiple via's and pads that I want to place in the same net.
But I can't find the option add "net".
When I want to switch a pad or via to a net the option is grey.

  • Also I get an error when I want to copy an excisting pad to a new pad design:
"Some objects were not pasted because the selection contained one or more objects that are not valid for the active sheet."

    But I selected a smd pad ...

  • Is there an option to copy a part of a copper layer to an other layer (like paste Mask layer)
  • How do I remove a layer? I have Copper inner layer 1 and 2 but I don't want them..

  • Ruler bar, is there a way to always show the values? Now I need to click on the bar to see the values.
  • Also is there an option to show decimals in the ruler bar?

Thanks for your time.

Hallo,

-I tried to figure out how you can set vias to the same net. If you are in your design page of your Ultiboard 11.0.1 then you can see the "SpreadsheetView" under your design which has several taps. One of them is "vias" and if you click on it you can find your vias. Under the "Assume net"bottom you can click on your specific via which you want to change its net. Then you get a blue line over it and you will see a small pile beside the net name. By clicking on it you can change the net of your via.

-To copy a part of the copper layer in the other layer and the errors I couldn't find any things yet.

-To remove the layer:

Complete the following steps to set up
the Copper layers tab:

  • Set the number of layer pairs you intend to use by entering the value or
using the up/down arrows in the Layer pairs field.
There must be at least one layered pair to act as a core.
  • Set the number of Single -ups for both
    the top and bottom.
  • Select the Blind vias, Buried vias or Micro vias checkboxes to use these in your design.
  • As you make changes to the layer settings, the Allowed vias area shows the acceptable layer combinations for
blind and buried vias or microvias. Use the checkboxes to select the layer combinations you
want to allow in your design.
  • In the Allow routing area, from
    the Copper layer drop-down list,
select the copper layer for which you wish to assign routing properties and
click Properties to display the Copper Layer Properties
    dialog box.
  • Enable the Routing checkbox to
allow routing on the selected layer.
  • In the Trace bias drop-down list,
select one of Horizontal, Vertical, or None.
  • Click OK to close the Copper Layer Properties
    dialog box
  • Enter the desired Board outline
    clearance and Board thickness in

    the Board area.
  • Click OK to close the dialog box.

- Unfortunately there is no functionn to always show the values and you cannot set it to decimals.

I hope that this information would be useful for you and if you still have questions, I here it from you.

Good luck.
