How do you plot the current through a diode which has an AC power supply?

I thought it was done using transient analysis but it doesnt seem to give me the correct plot.

Hello,

A transient analysis is a time based node analysis. It will calculate whatever it is you are looking for (power, voltage, current, other properties) for a determined amount of time. The plot will be a property-time plot. Maybe you are looking for frequency sweep? AC analysis would sweep the frequency between specific ranges and calculate the magnitude of whatever property you are looking to output.

Hi,

Thanks so much for the reply!! I was actually asked to plot the current through the diode for five cycles. I beleive its suppose to be in the time domain. Is there a way to do that using multisim?

Thank you!

Hi Isha,

You can use the current probe and connect it to the scope and when you simulate the circuit, the plot on the scope is current.  The current probe is on the instruments toolbar or you get to it by select Simulate>>instruments>>Current probe.
