How set connector's vias to a specific net?

Solved!
Go to solution

Hi all,

I have placed the SMK8R5MIL_B connector onto the top layer of the PCB, which is like 8 pin header. The connector is basically will be used for the purpose of connecting various power sources. I cannot seem to find a way to assign individual vias of the connector to a specific net. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi,

The best way to add a connector is to do it in Multisim and then forward annotate by selecting Transfer>>Forward Annotate to Ultiboard.  The PCB design you are working on will remain the same but you will have the connector added in the schematic available with all nets setup.  By adding the connector in Multisim its mean your schematic and PCB design will remain synchronize, adding parts in PCB only is bad design practice and in many cases, you will have a lot of problems in the future if you have to make any changes to your design.

If you did not create a schematic and want to assign pins to nets in Ultiboard, select Tools>>Netlist Editor, under `Net`, click on the drop  down menu and select a net, click on the button with an arrow shown in the attached bitmap and then click directly on the pin you wish to add to this net, it will apear under the ``Pin`` tab.  If the pin is part of anohter net, Ultiobard won`t let you select it again.

Again, do it in Multisim if you have a schematic.
