Hi,
My project involves SMT components on a flex PCB. In order to give my design more robustness I want to use stiffeners.
But I don't know how to draw these in Ultiboard 10. Nor do I know how to draw hold-down tabs.
Is it possible to get some information on this subject?
Kind regards,
Stieve

Hi Stevie,
I am not familiar with what you are trying; do you have any drawing that shows what this would look like? Did you contact the PCB manufacturer? Since they will be manufacturer the board, they should be able to give you recommendations.

Hi,
When designing a SMT flex PCB, it is important that the stiff component get released from the stress of bending. To do this, designers use stiffeners. In short nothing more then a hard island for the component to
be placed on so it doesn't have the stress of bending.
Some designers just use another layer so the manufacturer knows that he has be careful around the component but I think it would be helpful if Ultiboard was able to draw these by the click of a button.
I have redesigned the PCB smaller now, so the use of flex PCB is unnecessary. And therefore there will be no need for stiffeners.
But still thanks for responding.
Kind regards,
Stieve
