Irregular board outline?

Hello,

How do I create a non-rectangular board outline?

I am trying to reproduce the outline of an 80pin memory simm. I have the outline drawn out perfectly in copper top, but I want to make it the board outline so it will be routed out to that shape when fabricated?

Any help would be great, thanks.

I will give this a try since I had asked this once before. What needs to be done is that the original board outline be deleted. Instead of going to the board wizard, select the board outline layer in the layers menu and make sure it the active layer at this time. Once that is done, you can use the draw tools to make any shape you would like and that will become you board outline.

There is something you can do and save you a lot of time...

You say you have the outline created in Copper Top, follow Lacy's lead and delete it... however try the following instead of re-doing the outline from scratch...

Go to File >> Export.

Select the DXF option.

Click Properties.

Move the Copper Top layer from the left box to the right side box, click OK to exit.

Click Export.

Save the file.

Now go to File >> Import >> DXF

Configure for Merge into an existing layer, select the Board Outline.

Configure the units properly (most likely mils).

Click OK.

You should now have the board outline exactly as the copper top outline you draw.
