Multisim Licensing issues

Hi,

I have just installed NI Circuit Design Suite for students and I have some licensing problems. The setup application said there were errors in the installation process, and asked if I want to continue or abort, I answered Continue. Now when I try to run multisim it says "An unexpected licensing error has ocurred. Contact NI Technical Support."

I am on a Windows XP SP2, and the installation was made within the evaluation period option.

Thanks!

Can you do a scree capture of the error message, sometime it provides clues that you failed to mention.

Try the following, go to Start >> Programs >> National Instruments >> NI License Manager. On the main screen, open the branches on the hierarchy view of the software and locate your program, which I assume is Multisim 10.0, expand the branches and then on the specific version you have, right click on the item and select 'deactivate' --if this option is available-- if not, then select activate and try to reactivate your product. This will tend to regenerate a new license file on your system.

If the above procedure did not worked then  try reinstalling or repairing the installation. Start >> Control Panel >> Add/Remove Programs >> National Instruments Software, select Circuit Design Suite and then select the Repair button.

If repairing did not helped, then try reinstalling. For some reason the NI License Manager is not able to read/find the license files. Did you installed in any network drive? Or a drive different than the default one?

Let us know...

I am having the same problem but with a volume license installation. I have installed 68 PCs with Circuit Design Suite silently and remotely and around a third of them come up with this error. Reinstalling seems to fix the problem.

Hello,

I am also experiencing a licensing problem as well. My company purchased an educational version of Multisim with ten licenses. I have six laptops that I received from our IT department are basically clones (ghosted) of one another so when I try to license and activate the software, the computer ID is the same on all of the laptops and it tells me that the license has already been installed (which is has not). I do have a co-worker that has another version of Multisim loaded on his computer in his shop but his is not the educational version. I have been working with NI support team and have tried reloading, installing a temporary evaluation license, etc. but nothing has worked. I cannot get Multisim to even open past the "Evaluate/Activate/Purchase" screen.

I am hoping that someone else has had the same issues within a company dealing with multiple licenses and could offer any ideas.

Thanks
