NEW MCU in Multisim10

is it possible to craete a new MCU-Model like 16F877 in Multisim?
I don't find anything about this....

Currently only four MCUs are supported for doing co-simulation: 8051, 8052, PIC16F84, PIC16F84A. Since they are based on internal emulators coded in Multisim is not possible to 'create' or 'add' your own custom MCU for example. Other MCUs are available (or custom made also) for schematic/layout purposes. But for simulation only those four.

Hi Nestor,

thanks for your quick answer...

is there something planed in the future? or are this MCU's only for learning students?

There are no current plans to add more MCUs right now, we know there is demand for more, and we are monitoring that demand in order to take decisions whether to develop more or not. The first MCU module (v9) was tailored for Education audiences, so it was found that those were among the most popular microcontrollers used in classrooms. The MCU module (v10) is now available also to Pro users and we are like I said, monitoring what microcontrollers could be needed later. Pro users use a wide variety of micros, TI, ADI, Atmel, Freescale, Cyclone, SX, etc... so is more difficult to identify possible candidates.

Hi Nestor,

my suggestion is : Do not add your own mcu models. Speak with the people from companies like "Keil" and "IAR". They have enough mcu models and software interfaces and expierence. I think, it should be possible to connect your software with them. I.e. only one (correct working) interface to "Keil", and you might get hundreds of mcu's working in Multisim.

For my daily work, I do not need any sophisticated analog simulation. But a connection to Keil's IDE, that's what I am really looking for.

Regads, Lodin

I am working with :
UltiCap 2001 & UltiBoard 5.72 (for my daily work on XPpro-SP3, german)
Multisim Power Pro 10 (small & simple simulations)
Ultiboard Full 10 (no)
start looking for professional alternatives...

Sorry about my english!

Thanks for your suggestion, we will certainly pass it directly to R&D.

In present, There are two softs can good simulate for MCU are Proteus 7 (www.labcenter.co.uk) and Tina 7 (www.tina.com).
With Proteus 7, It can simlate 8051, PIC, AVR, AM7, ARM 9, BASIC, Motorola... (I tested AVR ATmega128 with good result).
With, Tina, At first, It can only simulate 8051, PIC, but now, It added AVR MCU, include AVR tiny, mega.
With Multisim10 can simulate for 8051, PIC ( with family PIC  is not much).
Thus, 8051, PIC, AVR are popular MCUs. Hence, Multisim need added AVR MCU is sensible.
Hope that I can simulate AVR MCU in Multisim11 Smiley Happy

Regards

hi Nestor

a year ago you mention

I am interested to get the "schematic/layout only"  information for the 16Fxxx pic family.
Are they available????

thanks
