NI Circuit Design Suite 10 installation problem

Hi

We have MultiSim v9 and UltiBoard v9 installed and running on XP-SP2 since a year ago
and we are using a Server2003-SP1 as floating license server.
I am now trying to install NI Circuit Design Suite Version 10 on the XP-SP2 computers.
I used the standard installation pathway for NI Circuit Design Suite.
I did not uninstall MultiSim9 and UltiBoard9 before installing Circuit Design Suite (the
manual does not expressely requires it).
I got following error messages:

1) At the end of the installation I get an error message saying
"MSIServer service failed to shutdown" (NIproblem1.JPG).
The program suggests that I run the installation as Administrator but
I am actually running the istallation as local administrator of the XP-SP2 computer.

2) As I click OK, and "Next >>", I get the second error message saying
"The Path 1 cannot be found" (NIproblem2.jpg).
It appears that the installation package "EWB Support and Upgrade Utility.msi"
cannot be found.
Exploring the NI Circuit Design Suite v10 installation CD I found a file
E:\Parts\EWBSUU\EWBSUU.MSI which may be what the dialog box is
looking for. Should I select it ?

Could anyone help ?
Best regards

Paolo Celani

I seems to be an access rights problem. Try to install these EWBSUU.MSI and reboot system and try to open MS10

Do you have full rights for all folders at your PC ? Use you the MS 10 as stand alone or as client and access to a server with Volume License Manager ?

Try reinstallation with software on ftp://ftp.ni.com/outgoing/CircuitDesignSuite10/ - it will available in 1 hour to download

Hi

Thanks for your answer.
>>I seems to be an access rights problem. Try to install these EWBSUU.MSI and reboot system and try to open MS10
Well, it did seem an access right problem at first.
Then I made a second attempt to install NI Circuit Design Suite 10 on another computer in exactly the same conditions
(Multisim and Utilboad v9 already installed and patched, installation of NICDS 10 without previous de-installation v9 programs etc etc) but
with the antivirus software deactivated. No error messages whatsoever this time. Actually the installation instructions advise to
turn off antivirus software but this is the first time I have problems like this.
Still difficult to believe.

Thanks again!

I have a big problem about reinstalling multisim Smiley Indifferent

I downloaded  multisim for evulation 10 days ago. And yesterday, my multisim software didn't work. And I want to uninstall it but I couldn't... I couldn't see it in "add/remove programs' list" And so I tried another way and, used uninstaller programs to uninstall it. But this solution didn't work again. And finally I deleted all files about multisim 10.0 by myself. And after deleting, I want to reinstall again and installed but this time multisim didn't work again.. I don't know what to do, I can't find any solution for my problem Robot Sad

To uninstall Multisim 10, you have to go to Add/Remove Programs... in the list you will see National Instrument Software, click Change, you will then see in the new list Circuit Design Suite 10. This is how you uninstall it.

Reinstalling an evaluation version will not work. You will need to install it in another computer. However, if you manually deleted the files, your registry might still have the previous installer files.

Try going to Add/Remove Programs, select National Instruments Software, click Change, you might still see Circuit Design Suite 10, if so... then click Repair... follow the instructions and it might work.

Hi,

have you trying to use our msiblast.exe tool to deinstall this software ? You can download Uninstall NI Software.zip under ftp://ftp.ni.com/outgoing/

When you don´t see it again, then start computer with boot disk e.g. Win98 CD and put in cd programs, cd national instruments, cd circuit design suite 10.0 - note you can´t see that folder but you can set into folder with these command and then del *.* (be carefully that you deleting really the right content of this folder and not your hard disk 🙂 ) and yes to delete all of this folder. Then cd.. and rd circuit design suite 10.0 and these folder is deleted.

After reboot you can new install your circuit design suite 10.0 if not then go to execute -> type in regedit -> go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> National Instruments and delete here the Circuit Design Suite folder -> then exit and then reinstall the Circuit Design Suite folder.

Disable for installation all anti virus and log in as admin and perhaps if your installer has a defect try download the Circuit Design Suite under ftp://ftp.ni.com/evaluation/EWB/

Hope this helps you
