HI
I am an old user of PCAD.
Now, i am evaluating Multisim.
For manufacturing, it was possible to place a seconde Reference Designator (Refdes2) on an Assembly layer or Mechanical layer.
I am trying to find out, if it is possible to do it with ultiroute?
Can someone help me.
Thanks for all

This is partially possible, you cannot actually have a RefDes on multiple layers but you can create similar behaviour via text attributes.
You can add attributes to the Mechanical and Assembly layers which will appear to act like a RefDes but will not be linked to it so the values will not stay synchronised.
This is done by
1) Place your part on the schematic.
2) Right Click > Properties
3) Select the Attributes Tab and click New
4) Select the layer for the attribute
5) Select the TEXT tag and insert the parts RefDes as the value.
This will give you text that is tied to the part similar to the RefDes. However if you change the RefDes on the part, the text attribute will need to be updated manually. This can be used as one so long as you are careful when updating the reference designators of the parts.

To place a refdes2 on assy layer.
On the pattern editor,
you add the attribut RefDes and you add 2 at the end
Means you have 2 Attributes
Name Value
RefDes ref
RefDes2 refxx (personnally i put it on invisible, Justification center)
When you are on the pcb,
Go on -Utils
-Utils customize
Search on pcad folder (Refdes32.exe)
When your pcb is done.
Update the component this tools you add
