SCR is always on when forward biased with ground at one end at negative at other end

Hey, I've attached a bidirectional voltage controller using two SCRs connected antiparallely. the triggering is happening properly in the positive half cycle. But even with the correct trigger pulse the negative half cycle seems to be triggered always - it;s acting like a normal diode. Does anyone have a soolution for this?

Maybe you can use a triac instead, it's designed to work in both direction.
