Slow simulation

Hi Lacy:

I thought defragment helped but only because I tried simulating some earlier circuits.  Recent circuits are slow.  I wonder what the memory requirement is and whether a disk space can be allocated.  Possibly one problem with defragment is that everything gets squashed into a compact bundle.

Hello Arthur:  I have discovered the reason for slow execution of some circuits in my Multisim v9:  It is caused by the action of Show Borders in the Sheet Options.  Unclick it and say Apply or OK.  Your circuit will now be FAST.  Unfortunately this action can't be saved as a general case so each circuit will have to be checked.   I would post this as a general message but havent been able to get New  Message to work.

I assume this message will go to Lacy.  I haven't been able to post a "New Message" so I'll try a Reply.

Slow action in Multisim v9 is caused by having "Show Borders" turned on under Sheet Preference ! ! ! !

Turn it off and all is well.  This can't be saved as a general case.

Hello again:

I might have misspoken.  I meant to turn off "Page Bounds"  in Sheet options.  This puts a dottod line at the page edge which is pretty useless and slows everything down.  Make sure it is turned off for the "New Circuit" page.  For any circuit saved which already has it "On"  you will have to op0en it, turn off Options/Sheet options/Page Boundries and check OK and save the file.  I consider this a pretty bad misttake i the program.

Hi Lacy:  Did I misspeak?  I meant to open any circuit that is slow and do Options/Page Options/and unclick Page Bounds.  Then clic OK and Save for each slow circuit.  With Page Bounds turned off in the "New" circuit, this won't be a problem in the future ( I think ).  I wonder if other Multisim versions could have this serious DEFECT?

Thanks for that information. Since I don't have Version 9 I can't test it in that verion, but I will try it in Version 10 and see what happens and whether or not this may have been corrected.

Very much appreciate your finding this and sharing your finding with the forum. Good work.
