Hello,
I'm designing my system in Multisim 12 and I wanted to include NI components from the database.
I needed a component for the NI USB-6008 and another for the NI cDAQ-9174 with two NI9217.
My question is: those components exist already (in the database, in the NI website or from a third party) or do I have to design them?
Thanks

csiquet,
Are you looking to design a PCB connector solution - or do you want to draw a system schematic with these devices included (drafting schematic)? The reason I ask is that the USB-6008 and 9217 only appear to have a screw terminal option (bare wires to connect to sensor or devices) and therefore would not be directly used to connect into a PCB (at least at first glance - unless there is a custom connector or one that can be made by a cable harness/wiring shop).
We have a wide variety of PCB mating connectors for NI hardware (those that you can configure to wire from the NI card to a custom PCB via a cable), but we have none that are symbol/pinout only that would be used for drafting purposes.
However, although we typically do not get into drafting applications, from a system schematic standpoint, it is possible to create a symbol with the required pinout and label the symbols with the appropriate NI part numbers and wire them together.

Yes, I want to draw a system schematic with these devices included.
I thought those devices, being quite simples, would be included in the components database of Multisim.

csiquet,
They are not by default since most customers we have are using simulation OR building PCBs and not just a schematic drawing, however the good news is they are super simple to make since it is a symbol only. I'll go ahead and build these specific symbols for you based on the NI datasheet.
In general we don't mind building the symbols if you'll be using an NI product!

Thank you Pat.
That is very nice of you.
I have not "played" with Multisim long but I thought it would be possible to do the simulation with a NI component included in a schematic.
I was wondering as well, does Multisim tell me if the settings for my simulation are wrong. For example, if I don't put a resistance before a led, it will get destroyed.
I have put this question to the Multisim NI trainer of the formation I attended but he could not answer me.
(I have seen components exploding in the Livewire program for example).

csiquet,
Here is a sample Database of these NI parts (symbol only):
To merge them into your DB, do this: Tools -> Database -> Merge Database
There are 'rated' components that blow up/ stop functioning if too much voltage/current goes through them.
Master DB -> Basic -> Rated_Virtual

Thank you very much Pat.
