Hi

I have designed a circuit in NI ELVIS 3D view of Multisim and I want to use both NI ELVIS II oscilloscope and Algilent oscilloscope to show student how to work with both oscilloscope but the problem is when I use both of them non of them works.NI ELVIS II Oscilloscope stop running and the other one desnt show anything but as soon as I delete the Agilent one NI ELVIS II Oscilloscope starts showing traces.I would like to know is it possible to implement both at the same time

Hi,

I ran a quick test on my computer, added the NI ELVISmx scope, the Agilent scope and the Multisim scope and the simulation worked fine. What's your Multisim version? I tried this on version 10.1.1. and 11.0. Could you please attach your circuit for further troubleshooting?

On my computer both instruments work, but very slow

Here is a tip: disable the ELVISmx instruments that you are not using (each enabled instrument consumes systems resources):

  • Stop the simulation.
  • Go to Simulate>>NI ELVIS Simulation Settings.
  • Uncheck the instruments that you are not using.
  • Click OK.

When an ELVISmx instrument is disabled, a small red "X" appears next to the upper-right corner of the instrument icon on the schematic.

Let me know how this works.

Hi Fernando you were comeplety right.I have disabled the other instruments and everything was OK afetr that

just one question as I said before in Evalution version NI ELVIS II instruments are disabled and not working.I would like to know if I have the 10.1 professional version of Multisim can I open NI ELVIS II instrument windows from my laptop or it is possible to use these instruments only when PC is connected to a real NI ELVIS II.I ask this qiestion because I have to desgin some questions for students as an e-learning program and I would like to know if they have the correct version can they use NI ELVIS II instrumnts(multi sim version from home)

many thanks again

Hi,

I'm glad to hear the the issue has been resolved. There are two requirements to use the NI ELVISmx instruments:

  • Multisim Education or Student edition.
  • NI ELVISmx driver software.

When you install Multisim the installer asks for the NI ELVISmx installation CD. If yo do not have this CD you can ignore this step and continue the installation process. Then you can download the ELVISmx driver from here and install it.

You can use the ELVISmx instruments in simulation mode without connecting the ELVIS II workstation to the computer.
