I am going to give a stab at this. It should work, but I am not 100% positive. What you need to do is look at the file that is created when you do an export from Multisim and see if it is listed as a ".ewprj" file format. If it does then it should transfer O.K.
I do not have UB 9, but I would think that there would not be much differences in the databases.
I just tried a Multisim 2001 File to see what would happen. It did not automatically launch UB10.1, but I was able to load the file into UB10.1 manually and place the parts and route it. So if I can do this will 2001, it should be easier with Versiion 9 since it is only one version behind.
If you really want to make sure before you shell out your hard earned money, then I suggest to download the evaluation of *CDS10.1 and give it a try to see if you can port over MS9 files. There is nothing to loose by doing it this way.

I started doing the CDS 10.1 evaluation and found that MS9 and UB9 files load fine into the v10 counterparts and can be edited as well. The problem is in trying to transfer or forward annotate from MS9 to UB10. It works except that any internal layers on the board are lost. I called about it and was told it should work but there is a bug in MS9 in how it exports layer information and always reverts o to layers.
This makes using MS9 and UB10 impossible unless you want a 2 layer board. You can load your v9 schematic and layout into MS10 and UB10 and save them as v10 files. You can proceed as usual from that point.
