Virtual Lamp strange and floating relay contacts issue

Solved!
Go to solution

Using msim 14.1 education edition sorry.

The virtual lamp behavior is strange. It will not light(activate) using AC from the power source category yet it will light using AC from the Signal Voltage source. Works fine using DC of course. Nothing in the model of the sources nor the virtual lamp jumped out a me as possible reasons.

Next, the floating relay contacts NO/NC in the coils/relays category are not very useful because they are only applicable when used to switch voltages (current flow). This is somewhat constraining when wanting to switch passive components in and out of circuits. Will throw errors that prevent simulation and  convergence assistant cannot duplicate.

Haven't found any custom simulation setting to overcome this. Here is why: looking at the model for the contacts they are activated (animated) by sensing current flow through them. DUH. Bad model. I may play with the model to see if I can come up with some viable replacement parts. It is unneccesarily complicated to replace contacts with voltage or current controlled switches or solid state devices. I don't know if contact behavior is the same with new msim.....

Привет!
Ваши доводы выглядят голословными и обобществлёнными. Приведите конкретные примеры, когда возникают у вас проблемы с моделированием, желательно всё файлы в формате "ms", чтобы увидеть все настройки симуляциий.

Appears msim is a little quirky. Turned msim off / on a few times and now virtual lamp acts as expected using default simulation settings. The relay contact behavior issues still remain.

Этот фокус возможен, потому что контакты имеют конечные сопротивления

You did not understand what I wrote about the contacts. My complaint is that the model requires current flow in order to activate so that the contacts cannot be used to switch passive components in and out of circuits. With no current flow, the simulation will throw errors and the simulation will not run. The convergence assistant cannot duplicate the error. That is a BAD MODEL in my opinion.

Using Msim 14.1 64 bit.

Msim restart a few times has changed floating contact response AGAIN. Msim quirk. However, the floating contact REQUIRES another component be connected to at least one end of the relay contact or Msim will stop the simulation and throw errors that convergence assistant cannot duplicate.

This is only a minor issue as the contacts will not normally be left unconnected in a circuit other than during development of the circuit. Other components Can Be Left Floating and will Not cause errors. Sorry to waste members time.

Пустые контакты реле нужно заземлять, если они не используются.
