Did you mean:

change 240v rms to 12v dc

Required to design an electronic device that requires a dc input of 12V. The input can only vary within ±0.5V to avoid malfunction of the device. Since the supply from power outlet that available currently is a sinusoidal voltage with amplitude of 240Vrms. I dont know the circuit should use what component.

Is this a school project?

You will not find a single component to do everything you require. You need to perform mutliple functions:

1. Input protection, if appropriate.

2. Change the AC voltage level from the 240 V input to something closer to the desired output.

3. Convert the AC voltage to a DC voltage.

4. Filter the converted DC voltage.

5. Regulate the output voltage to 12.0 +/-0.5 V.

6. Provide protection against overcurrent or overvoltage conditions at the output.

Each of those functions will require one ro several components. Since each is a simple task, finding circuit examples for the tasks should not be too difficult.

i don't know how to diffrentiate the code of the transformer and rectifier. Since there are many code but having the same look,so is it we just dont care the code of the component or the code havung the different function?
