connect a trace directly to a power plane

i am trying to connect (or merge) a trace to a ground plane.

because the length of the trace is critical to my design and the targeted trace and the power plane happen to be on the same layer, I am thinking to directly connect them together without going through a via.

i tried to set the clearance of the trace and power plane to "0". however, there is always a gap in between and a polygon shape gas at the end the trace.

can some one give me a hand? Thanks.

If the trace and plane both belong to the same net, they should merge automatically. Check the properties on each to make sure of the assigned net. Also try placing the trace before you place the powerplane.

Hope that might help you.

Thanks for your reply.

One end of the trace is connected to Net 6. and the other end of the trace (shown in the figure)  suppose to be connected to the ground plane.

Because the trace is already connected to net 6, it does not merge to the ground plane.

In that case you will need to place a net bridge.

Hi, I didnt want to add a net bridge since it creats a mess on my layout.

I am going to do some touch up change on the gerber before I sent it out to production.
