importing a scaled dxf

Hi,

I am making a new design that needs to fit in a plastic housing.

I got the drawings in DWG from the manufacturer and converted them to DXF (using any DWG DXF converter)

When I import the DXF file into Ultiboard into a mechanical layer, all parts are 1/2 the size they should be....

The DXF drawing mentions scale 1:2

Is there a way to import it to Ultiboard in the correct size?

I'm using Ultiboard 10.1

Best regards

Hello,

Can you post the dxf file you're currently using?

Thierry,

In attachment the dxf file.

If you watch the file in a dxf viewer (such as solidworks edrawings), you'll see that the distance between the center fixing holes is 50 mm

The scale (in the textbox bottom right) is set to 1:2

When importing this file as a mechanical layer in ultiboard (in mm), then the scaling isn't considered.

The distance between the holes mentioned is only 25 mm... (see screenshot imported drawing)

When comparing the drawings, I also noticed:

-all original texts are gone after import

-some dimensions are slightly differtent (this is probaly due to the fact that Ultiboard is standard using 6 figures after the decimal point...

About this last remark: it would be interesting if the number of figures after the decimal point (for dimensions) could be a setting.

Exporting mechanical drawings would be much more clear...

For mechanics, we don't need the nanometers....

Best regards

Johan

Hi stressed user,

I looked into the files and there seems to be an issue with opening this dxf file with different softwares. Some of them seem to scales it to 1/2 where as others keep it at the original. Is it possible for you to post the original DWG file so we can try to convert it to DXF and see what happens. If you can also let us know which software the file was created in, it can help us find the root of the issue.

Regards,

Sorry,

No idea what version of Autocad (or other) the original drawing was made in.. (would that not be in the header of the DWG/DXF?)

The DXF was sent to me by Camden-Boss

I include the original zip file with all data I was given..

It is not the first time this import problem occurs for me,

I had it as well with a board outline that a customer gave last year.

That time, I have asked the customer to change the scale for me...

For this drawing, I found a software (30 days evaluation) in which I could convert the DXF scale...

Unfortunately, in 4 weeks from now, it expires 🙂

Best regards

Johan

Hi Johan and Tayyab,

I've looked into the DXF file contents and traced the exact cause of the behaviour your are seeing. I've created a defect to address this in a future release (sooner rather than later).

AutoCAD DXF (2/1):

1. Select all.

2. Right click and select Zoom 2.
