I f you can load Multisim under this situation goto OPTIONS>GLOBAL PREFERENCES>PATHS and then under Database Files enter the foloowing:

Master Database: C:\Program Files\National Instruments\Circuit Design Suite 10.0\database\MSComp_S.prd

Corporate Database: C:\Program Files\National Instruments\Circuit Design Suite 10.0\database\CPComp_S.prj

User Database: C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Application Data\National Instruments\Circuit Design Suite\10.0\database\UsrComp_S_Owner.usr

If you can't load Multisim then try going to C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Application Data\National Instruments\Circuit Design Suite\10.0\config and try deleting all the files there. The next time you start Multism it will rebuild the config files. I am not sure whether or not this will resore the pointers to the database, but it should. This last procedure should only be used only if the first procedure can't be performed.

I hope this helps. Let me know if it works.

Lacy, you almost have it right. Smiley Happy

You should be able to set the correct database path while loading, or in the Global Preferences as Lacy described.

However, if that doesn't work, the database path's are stored in the registry, not in the configuration files. The important key's are:

HKLM\Software\National Instruments\Circuit Design Suite\10.0\Common\Database_Master
HKLM\Software\National Instruments\Circuit Design Suite\10.0\Common\Database_Corporate
HKLM\Software\National Instruments\Circuit Design Suite\10.0\Common\Database_UserTemplate
and
HKCU\Software\National Instruments\Circuit Design Suite\10.0\Common\Database_User

These should point to the Master, Corporate, and User databases as Lacy described. The user template path should be:
C:\Program Files\National Instruments\Circuit Design Suite 10.0\database\UsrComp_S.usr

Well, at least I got it half right. I wasn't sure about the last portion of my post. I am glad you straightened me out on this because I didn't know this about the registry. I usually don't like messing around in the registry because you can mess up more than you fix.

Is there any way in the futrue to have these somewhere else besides the registry? There are a lot of users that may not be familiar with how to edit the registry or (like myself) don't like to fiddle with it.

Thanks Garret. I really appreciate your help with this

There really should never be a need to edit the registry directly. That is what the paths in the Global Preferences are for!

I only provide the information because information gives you the ability to do things. (Although I'm not sure what these things would be in this case.)

Thanks to all you help. I have deleted the files and reinstalled the program and it works except now the licsence manager will not work with vista. will need to run the compatability program to map out this one.
