need help creating chip

I have the student version of multi sims and need help.

Im trying to creat this chip for reference
http://www.analogtechnologies.com/document/TECA1-XV-XV-D.pdf

My problem is im new to this software and olny im only using it for personal use. but i have done some things with it back in highschool.

Im getting stuck trying to make the chip. I know its a DIP packedge 16 pin But On a breadboard and perfboard it is one row wider that a normal chip. I dont really understand how to widen the chip when i make it.

Also Im not really sure what it means by create footprind.

Is the footprint the type of package are where the pins are or both.

Hello,

the footprint of a model is the outline that would be placed on a pcb board or used for reference. All footprints are designed by the manufacturer and can usually be found on the component datasheets. Footprints usually (not always) follow standards (such as msop packages) and a lot of these can already be found in Multisim.

As for your component creation questions, here are 2 tutorials on creating custom components in both Multisim and Ultiboard.

In Ultiboard or Multisim? What I mean is, the footprint or the symbol? The symbol can be anything you want, you just have to edit it, the same goes for the footprint. To change the symbol(Multisim), double click on the component to open the properties. Select Value » Edit component in Database » Symbol » Edit. There you can change the shape to whatever you want. To change the footprint(Ultiboard) select the component, then go to Tools » Database » Add selection to database... Then go to Tools » Database » Database manager, find the part you added from the User Database, select it and right click, then hit edit. In there you'll be able to change the shape to whatever you want. Then save it and in the main menu select Tools » Update shapes.

I have the student version of multisim

I think got it Dont really know what I did.

But one thing i cant figure out it On Multisim when i create the curcuit and move it to the breadboard the TECA1-XV-XV-D is the wrong size. On the breadboard it shows A normal DIP16 pachage. But in reality The distannce from pin 1 to 8 is almost the same as from 1 to 16.

When I move the cuircuit to Ultiboard the size is correct.

The only thing is the TECA1-XV-XV-D apears upside down as in pin one is on the bottom left Not i can alwaysjust rotate it but is there a way to edit this without having to remake it.

Hello,

In Ultiboard when you add a part to the Database and go and edit it from the Database manager, you can double click on a pin (SMT or TH) and go to the attributes tab at the top, in there you will find one attribute to be NUMBER and to thr gith it will have a specific number. Change this number to what you want it to be (so if you want to swap pins 1 and 8, then change those pins). Another way would be to simply drag the TH and SMT around to their desired location. The longest way of doing this is going to Multisim, edit the component and go the pin mapping section. In there you can tell which footprint pins are related to what pins from the symbol.
