relay seperate coil from contact(s)

Is there a way to place a mechanical relay coil and contact(s) seperatly on the page? For example I want to power a coil on the bottom left of a circuit, but it makes more since to locate the contact for said relay on the top right. Can you link a coil and contact for simulation?

Thanks,

zerodegreec,

It depends - are you using the components for layout (you also need a footprint map) or just simulation?   Typically when you create 2 components or a single part with a multisection component (same refdes and footprint map, but broken into 2 symbols/models), the models cannot be linked behind the scenes.

However there is a concept of a magnetic channel that was developed a while back (see hall effect sensor example link below).

I am not sure of the implementation detail and I also think this is not a user supported option, but let me know if this concept is something that could work in your application.

Thanks for the reply. The HES sensor example is similar to what I am hoping for. I am not using Multisim (in this application) to export to Utiboard. I am using it for circuit testing and analysys. I use allot of virtual components but what I would really likeis the ability to link component actions together. For example If I was to place half a dozen SPST contacts in various places on the page. Link them to one coil some place else. So that when I run the simulation, they work together. Make it allot easier for me to layout circuits without hundreds of lines crossing each other and making a general (impossible to read and troubleshoot) mess of the circuit. Right now I use On-Page connectors to help control some of the mess, but this is not nearly as elegant or as fast as it could be.

Once a circuit is complete I clean it up and develope ladder diagrams for use in production/prototye. Can the HES metod you linked be appied in this manner?

Thanks,

Bryan
