Installation Instructions

Before you install the LabVIEW Toolkit for LEGO^® MINDSTORMS^® NXT 1.0.1 Patch, verify the computer meets the following conditions:

• A compatible version of LabVIEW is installed.
• The LabVIEW Toolkit for LEGO^® MINDSTORMS^® NXT 1.0 is installed.
• LabVIEW is not running.

Windows

Complete the following steps to install the LabVIEW Toolkit for LEGO^® MINDSTORMS^® NXT 1.0.1 Patch for Windows.

1. Download the LabVIEW Toolkit for LEGO^® MINDSTORMS^® NXT 1.0.1 Patch from ni.com/academic/mindstorms.
2. Unzip the nxttoolkit101patch.zip file and open the directory that corresponds to the LabVIEW version installed on the computer.
3. Copy the vi.lib directory you downloaded and paste this directory into the labview directory.
4. In the copy warning dialog box, select Yes to All.

Finding Examples

LabVIEW examples for the toolkit are located in the labview\examples\NXTToolkit folder. You can modify an example VI to fit an application, or you can copy and paste from one or more examples into a VI that you create.

Known Issues

• To run the toolkit efficiently, you must mass compile the toolkit VIs in the version of LabVIEW in which you install the toolkit. Complete the following steps to mass compile the LabVIEW Toolkit for LEGO® MINDSTORMS® NXT.
  1. Launch the version of LabVIEW in which you installed the toolkit.
  2. Select Tools»Advanced»Mass Compile.
  3. Browse to the labVIEW\vi.lib\addons\NXTToolkit folder and select Current Directory (LabVIEW 8.x) or Curr Dir (LabVIEW 7.1).
  4. Select Mass Compile to begin the mass compile process.
