Programmatically finding GPIB resources information

Hello,

I'm reworking a NI HP6XXXX power supply instrument driver.  I'm trying to find a way to get the VISA resource information correct to pass to the VI's in the driver.  I came across a VI from Ryan F. Dated 2/24/2009 but the problem with it is that all instrument attached to it have a "Manufactures Name" of "National Instrument" and not the true manufacture.

I have not work with GPIB in LabVIEW and from what I have read on the discussion forum it is recommend to use the VISA VI over the GPIB VI but there isn't many example explaining the procedure that I have found. 

Could someone take a look at Ryan's program (attached) and explain why it only see NI instrument as a manufacture?  It also have problem with the ID and Version but I'll worry about that later.

Hi Gary,

What version of NI-VISA do you install? And I'm not pretty sure about what you meant. Did you try Ryan's VI with any of your instruments connected?

By the way, you can find examples on ni.com or via the example finder in LabVIEW. Besides, you can ask for technical support from the country you purchased NI's products like LabVIEW, GPIB, etc.
