Add Package to Feed with absolute path

Is there a way to add a package to a feed but specify the package path as an absolute path?

I want to host a feed in my department on a shared network drive.  I also want to backup that feed to a git repo.  When I add my package to the feed that is cloned locally, the network cloned version doesn't work because the package feed path can't be found because it is a relative path.

Or, more simply, if I move my feed from one folder to another, it doesn't find the packages.

I know I can add the packages to the network clone feed directly, but it might be nice to be able to move the feed later.

As it sits now, I think you have to move the feed and the package files together to keep the relative linking correct. I would suggest posting this as an idea to the NI Package Idea Exchange. I would think at least an option could be added to feed commands.
