Change instalation path in student packages

For the last week i have been trying to install Multisim student and Labview student to a secondary drive(D:\), i have no space in the main SSD (C:\) so installation there is out of the question.

I have followed the instruction in this knowledge page. And i have been successful in editing the registry keys both for the NIPM and for the software.
however installation proceeds to install in the main drive and not in the secondary one.
I feel like i am missing a step or maybe a previous install trace is messing with my new installation.
Is there anything i should do?
Is there a tool to clean up previous installs?
Thank your help

Something to double check:

  • that you edited the registry keys AND manually created the directories in advance. So for example, if you set NIDIR=D:\Bin\NI\, that you also manually created the D:\Bin\NI folders before the installation was performed. The reason is that if the registry key default is changed, that it checks that the new directory exists before it actually tries to put files there.
  • NIDIR and NIDIR64 must be set to different values
