NIPM

I installed Multisim, and when I try to launch it or any other ni software, this error shows up. What's the solution?

Hi amiraatef, my first question is to just confirm that when you use the term "launch" are you running the installer for the software or are you are running the software application after installed? I ask this because if you are running the installed Multisim software application and you are seeing NI Package Manager being launched, that does not make sense. In addition, if you are actually launching the installed NI Package Manager application, I do not understand how that operation would display the installation Wizard for NI Package Manager. Rerunning the NI Package Manager installer a second time would display a message saying that it is already installed.

If you are running the applications and you are seeing the dialogs that you suggest, we would need more specifics about how you are launching the applications, and use task manager to determine what processes are running and displaying the prompts that you are seeing when launching Multisim.

The only suggestion that I have right now is to uninstall the installed NI Package Manager using the Windows Add/Remove Program item for it, then download and install the latest NI Package Manager offline installer version 22.8 from ni.com. Once done, let us know what happens when you launch NI Package Manager. If NI Package Manager is working properly, see if Multisim appears installed on its Installed tab. Try to launch Multisim again from the Start menu and let us know how it goes.

I saw this suggestion a lot and I tried it. The thing is I cant find the NIPM in the add/remove in order to uninstall it. I actually had multisim and it worked w/out ever needing NIPM but then I needed to install labview(and hence the NIPM), which ended up not even working so I tried to delete it to free some storage but I think I accidentaly deleted something that had to w/ multisim and it ceased to work. So, I deleted everything that had to do with NI then I downloaded Multisim all over again. I click on the install.exe for multisim it installs ni package launcher which then doesnt open because it then shows me the NIPM error shown above. But then when I try to open NIPM it doesnt allow me to see what i ni software i have installed or anything so i cant delete, repair etc. I deleted and reinstalled NIPM over 5 times and it never shows up in the add/remove not since the very first time i unInstalled it from the add remove

If NIPM thinks it is installed, but it is not listed in the Add/Remove programs, you needed to delete some registry keys, which I do not remember off hand. I had to do this to downgrade a NIPM once. It seemed like NIPM's uninstall did not fully clean up all its remnants and that blocks reinstallation.

Hi,

I think there might be multiple issues going on. My suggestion is:

  1. Download the NIPM installer from here and run it (the Download button will get you the latest):
    https://www.ni.com/en-us/support/downloads/software-products/download.package-manager.html#322516
This will hopefully put your NIPM back into a good state.

  2. When you are downloading an .ISO file, be sure that you are either mounting it to a drive letter or extracting the whole thing to a directory on your system. The error you are seeing can be caused by using an ISO browser utility, and just trying to extract and run the install.exe (which can fail because it can't access the other files in the ISO).
