Show my packages in the NIPM UI

Solved!
Go to solution

Hey Everyone,

I was wondering if it is possible to have the packages in a feed I made show up in the NIPackageManager UI.

I have a project where I'm creating a number of packages for deployment and presently after I add my feed to NIPM I can install it from the Packages tab, but I'm wondering if there is a way to have that show up if I was to click the Driver option in the Browse Products tab.  If it's possible, please share how I might make that happen.

Thank you to anyone that provides useful feedback.

Erich

I am pretty sure this is possible. How to enable it depends on how you are building the NI Package. Are you using NI Package Builder or LabVIEW Application Builder's Package Build Specification?

Edit:

I was misremembering the options I thought were the Browse Product are for having the packages show when Filtered to Products Only or Run-Time only.

Ah, I am using LabVIEW Package Builder through the project build specification in LabVIEW 2016.

I think this option was added after LV 2016, but I'm using LV 2019 and there is an option "Display in NI Package Manager when filtered by products" (last option) that makes it show up by default in NIPM and SystemLink.

You are absolutely correct, when I opened it in LabVIEW 2019 the option was available.  I guess we'll just have to suffer along currently with the tools available for 2016 and as we bring this up to newer versions we'll start checking the appropriate boxes.  Thank you for your assistance.

Hi Erich,

If you are referring to having your packages show up in the Browse Products tab in the NIPM UI, then unfortunately that is not possible. This tab will only show products that are hosted by NI (including third-party products published on the NI Tools Network).

What JoshuaP is referring to is having your package show up on the Packages tab when the "Products Only" checkbox is checked. In that case checking the "Display in NI Package Manager when filtered by products" option in the LabVIEW build spec will add the appropriate attribution to your package so that it shows up in the Packages tab when the "Products Only" checkbox is checked.

Thanks.
