User Interfaces available in LabVIEW : Why Sequential model and not Batch or Parallel ?

Hi there,

This post is just in order to know why there is a user interface available in LabVIEW language (simple or full-featured) suitable for sequential model and NOT for Batch and Parallel models, while these are available in CVI language ?

The customer, who is an allaince member and a famous TestStand user (MESULOG) submitted this idea because he had to translate code from CVI to LabVIEW, and thnik this would be a great thing to add to the next release.

To complete what Mathieu said, our wish is to have the UUT panel (used within "batch" and "parallel" process models) available in LabVIEW.

There are third party User Interfaces available for TestStand that does support both sequential, parallel and batch models. For example search for "FlexStand" on ni.com. FlexStand is much easier to handle and modify for your needs than the shipped simple- and full featured examples. FlexStand has full LabVIEW support.

That might be a viable option, but in my opinion it should NOT be standard practice to have to install a 3rd party user interface to effectively be able to use core TestStand functionality. The Sequential model may be the most widely used, but Batch and Parallel models are not just some fringe functionality that NI has thrown in. I would concede that they are something that is progressed to after becoming familiar with TestStand (using the Sequential model), but in a production environment the Batch and Parallel models offer a lot of necessary functionality. We've wanted the ability to tweak the user interface since we've first started using those models. Using LabVIEW (which we have knowledge in as we've grown with NI) would allow us to comfortably do this.

This can be done already. In the fully featured interface go to Configure >> Station Options and you can select the process model. 
We explicitly don't expose this option in the simple interface as it is meant to be simple. However, you can still update the station options to batch or parallel mode in the sequence editor & it will apply for your simple interface as well.
