Changing the defaults when editing limits

Im creating a bunch of test sequences which all need to be real numbers with three fractional digits.  Is there anyway to change the default settings for when you right click on a step then click edit limits.  It keeps going back to <default> and auto formats my numbers.  Its getting aggravting always switching it to real then deleting seven zeros every single time.  Thanks.

Hey Roons,

Are you talking about the Numeric Format dialog box is always going back to default?  I'm not seeing your behavior.  I choose Real for my Type, uncheck Display Trailing Zeros, Number of Fractional Digits = 3, my Format is %$.3f and Custom is unchecked.  Then I click ok and set some limits with 3 fractional digits and click Ok again.

Again this is all based on what I set by clicking on the Numeric Format button on the Edit Limits dialog.  Seems to save them fine for me.

I didn't have my limits immediately so I entered in the name first without changing the format.  Then I have to go back and change everyone from <default> to Real.  If I change it to Real first then every other one I add will be Real.  I was hoping I could change the <default>  so its Real everytime.

In TestStand 4.0 you can select multiple steps and change this property for all of them at the same time.

In 3.5 and older you cannot do that.  You have to change each one individually.

The <default> is set in the step properties.  If you wanted you would have to create a custom step that has this set to Real and then use that custom step.

In 4.0, a simpler option than creating a step type might be to configure a step the way you want it and drag it to your templates window. Then drag from the templates window whenever you need a new instance.
