Data source schema validation error

Hi,

I'm trying to validate data source schema in TS 3.1 and getting this error:

" Run-time error '458':
Variable uses an Automation type not supported in Visual Basic ".

Same operation works fine in TS v3.0 (Evaluation!!!).

Thanks,
Edi

Hello Edi,

I am not fairly certain that you have contacted Yechiel Peled about this issue already because the email that he sent to use is almost word-for-word what you have written here. As I told him, this is already an issue that is currently being investigated. I have included information in our internal documentation indicating that Yechiel is to be contacted with anything that is discovered about it by our Research and Development Department. Perhaps another customer has encountered this same issue and could give you advice, but from our end, it is currently being looked into and we will be contacted though Yechiel when there is a known solution. He has also been sent the information pertaining to the CAR (corrective action report) and has access to that document.

Sincerely,

Hi Aaron,
and thank you for reply.
I contacted Yechiel Peled, sent the mail and posted my question almost at the same time.
(Yechiel didn't mention that this problem is already known.)
Anyway I guess the main purpose of this forum is to solve problems, so I hope this solution for schema validation (in TS v3.0 (even evaluation version) instead of error in TS v3.1) will help somebody, or will bring another answer.

Best regards,
Edi

I'm sorry to report that this issue is currently pending. The status of the Corrective Action Report is still "Open". It is also possible that it will not be fixed in the current version of TestStand.

Wojtek and Edi -
I have looked into this problem and some preexisting VB code now appears to error when trying to access some of the data type information from the providers schema. I have been able to work around this error and if it occurs again, it will error more gracefully. I am attaching a ZIP file for you to try. Thank you for your patience.
