How do I add commands to uninstall for TestStand Deployment

I have my TestStand 3.1 deployment pretty much set up the way I want it, using custom commands to create a couple of desktop shortcuts. When the uninstall runs, I would like to clean up those shortcuts. Is there any way to add commands to the uninstall?

Hello,

Unfortunately you can not add custom commands to the TestStand 3.1 uninstaller. However, I do think this is a great idea and I can envision many use cases for this type of functionality. So, I am going to submit a product suggestion to TestStand R&D to see if this feature could be added in future releases. I hope this information is helpful.

In a related question, is there way to create a shortcut on the desktop using the current deployment tool? If so, please point me to it! If not, that should be added to the list as well.

Thanks for listening!

Hello,

First, the TestStand deployment utility does include a method for creating shortcut in the Windows Start Menu Programs Directory. This may be something that you are interested in and can be done directly from the deployment utility. Also, I found this post which talks about an indirect way to add a desktop shortcut icon. You may be able to use this information when building your deployment. I hope this helps you out.

Hi Kevin,

Way ahead of you there. I had already used the start menu program shortcut to put copies on the desktop. The original question was about cleaning it up properly because the installer didn't know about it so left it lying around pointing to nothing after uninstalling.

I figure if the installer is set up to create desktop icons, then it will know about them to clean them up on uninstall as well.
