IVI and Switch Executive support in NI TestStand

I don't understand NI position on IVI and Switch Executive.
The IVI StepTypes are not supported in NI TestStand 64 bits and they are no more installed in TestStand 2020 and above.

But NI is still recomending using Switch Executive, which is based on IVI.
How can I use Switch Executive without IVI and IVI StepTypes for NI TestStand ?

You can still perform switching at the Step level, there is just no longer IVI Step Types.

This does not cover everything that the IVI Step Types used to do. But covers connect, disconnect, disconnectall and wait. If you need more you have to use code modules to wrap up NI Switch Executive.

I don't think configuring switching at step level is a good practice.
It reduces sequence lisibility.
And it is not easy to upgrade existing sequences in previous TestStand version.

What is NI waiting before providing a supported StepType for Swich Executive ?
