Hi,
we use TS4.2.1. LV2009 and CVI2009 (SP1) on Vista64 PC.
In order to solve wrong routing result reported by NiSE 3.0 we decide to upgrade to NiSE 3.5.
After that the routing results was correct but when we try to use IVI step types we found an unpredictable error.
I attach the screenshot.
Other IVI steps gives different errors.
Please let me know how to solve it.

Hi all, (especially for NI guys)
I tried to repair the installation of NiSE3.5, TS4.2.1 and also install the last version of MAX...
Nothing to do! The error still remain so I'm unable to use IVI step types.
Please help.

Hi Luigi,
After a long research I've not found nothing related to code error reported in your jpg file.
I'm trying to replicate your software configuration but in this moment I've not Win Vista 64.
Now I have to create a virtual machine with your OS and then I let you know.

Hi Luigi,
I'm in contact with corporate R&D and I'll let you know what they say,
In the meantime I've put code error in Google and found some interesting link:
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/4428824/loadlibrary-problem-on-win7-64-bit
the error maybe related to a mismatch with Microsof C++ Library
Hope It will be help

Many thanks Claudio,
for your help, I hope that some one in R&D could give a more detailed hint in order to solve the problem.
I have also a Vista 32bit machine, but I'm not sure if it is possible to apply NiSE3.5 without problem cause we are finalising a development so it is a high risk situation...
Any suggestion?
Sincerely

Ciao Luigi,
I'm posting you R&D questions in case you work during the week end...;)

Ciao Andrea,
thanks for the prompt reply.
After the suggestion of Claudio I installed in the order the following Visual Studio redistributable:
VS2005SP1 x64
VS2008SP1 x64
VS2010 x64
After that (restarting also the PC) the error is changed (code: -2147417851), I attach the new screenshot.
This reply the first point.
The behaviour is the following every IVI step type panel after the error signalling continue to works as usual and the error message is prompetd again only if you try to change the 'Logical Name' (the drop down list disappear immediatelly) but the other fields operate correctly.
The only one step type that doesn't operate is IVI Tools for which the panel does not appear (I attach other specific screenshots).
This reply the second point.
For the fourth point the behaviour is still the same if I edit use the shortcut menu...
With other operator interface the "sound" is the same (as I expect) cause the problem isn't dependent from the operator GUI but related to the IVI...
Let me know.

- Did the customer verify that the 64 bit redistributable is installed as mentioned in the link you sent?
- After clicking OK, what happens - does the edit window close entirely?
- Does the behavior occur if he edits the step by right clicking it, selecting edit there?
- Does the same behavior occur in any of the operator interfaces? (press ctrl + shift + alt +insert to enable editing in the full featured operator interfaces)
I understand you don't want to risk the installation on the vista 32 bit machine. We should have one in the office so we might be able to test it for you. I installed your software on my XP 32 bit machine and obviously I had no problems. It's somethinkg related to the 64 bit OS.Let's answer to these questions to move on to the next step.Looking forward to a reply.Have a nice week end,Andrea

Ciao Lugi,
From R&D:

Hi,
Al is out of the office for a few days, so I can help you guys troubleshoot this issue. What version of IVI Compliance Package do they have installed? It seems like SignalExpress may have upgraded some part of IVI, so I just wanted to check to see if they have the most up to date version of IVI Compliance Package available (4.3: http://joule.ni.com/nidu/cds/view/p/id/2218/lang/en). If they do have this version installed, have them do a repair on IVI Compliance Package.
Does their TestStand code work? If they have existing IVI steps that worked before, do those still run now, or does this seem to be an edit-time only problem?
Can they modify settings in MAX for IVI? By this, I mean can they create a new Logical Name/Driver Session and configure everything without seeing any errors as they see in TestStand? I want to see if the problem is more with IVI or with the TestStand interface to IVI.
Hopefully with some more information we can start narrowing down to the cause of the problem.

Dear Claudio,
as I told before, I have updated all the Driver items to the last release (DS1 2011) so I have MAX 4.7.7. and IVI Compliance Package 4.3 (I attach the screenshot). Anyway I can try to repair. (I notify you about the result in a next post)
If I try to run a sequence taht contains IVI step the application crash (seqedit runtime error is generated).
In MAX everything works fine, I can create Logical and/or Driver Sessions without any problem.
Let me know as soon as possible.
