Thanks.

One of these days I'll have to actually try atml I suppose. I'm not sure what advantage it has though. I've always used the database exclusively.

I've never used it either.  Databases are so much more flexible in my opinion.

To clarify, there are two separate parts of the ATML standard. The first is natively supported in TestStand, while the second is provided by the ATML Toolkit.

1) Test Results: The ATML TR standard defines an XML schema for reporting test results. This is supported natively in TestStand by the report plugins in the form of an ATML report.

2) Test Description: The ATML TD standard defines an XML schema for describing test systems. This could include a specific test plan with steps, parameters, and so on. TestStand cannot natively read ATML Test Description documents, but the ATML Toolkit allows you to convert an ATML TD document into a TestStand sequence file. The toolkit also allows you to update a TestStand sequence file to reflect changes that you make to the corresponding ATML TD document.

For more information on these two components, see this whitepaper: https://www.ni.com/en/shop/electronic-test-instrumentation/application-software-for-electronic-test-...
