I am pretty strong in both LabVIEW and Python, but a newbie with TestStand. My Quality group wants me to use a text based language, but I may be able to talk them into accepting LabVIEW if I limit the updates on the VIs. I suspect the integration with TestStand is much better with LabVIEW than with Python. Assuming I have equavalent proficiency in Python and LabVIEW, will it be twice as much work building a test flow with TestStand if I use Python?

Hi j_osh_o,
Have you checked out the Developer Zone article on Using IronPython with TestStand

Hi,
The work load is split into test management functions in TestStand, and data acquisition and analysis functions in your IDE. The work in TestStand should be about the same. Assuming you have equavalent proficiency in Python and LabVIEW, the difference would be how hard is it to do the required tasks in LabVIEW vs. Python.

Hi,
One more thing, I don't know this first hand, but you are most surely correct that the integration is better with LabVIEW. Because of this there will be some setup time associated with Python that you won't have with LabVIEW. There'll also be many more forum members with LabVIEW+TestStand experience.

There are open source Python tools for use within LabVIEW:
