Licensing error NILM19

I  installed the teststand runtime engine on a PXI-8184 embedded controller and activated it via telephone - Everything seemed to be fine.

But I have just installed various Teststand sequences and vis and I have the following error when I run up the labview front end.

"The requested license on "LocalHost" has been activated for a computer other than the current computer, or you have recently changed hardware in your computer.

Reactivate this product to restore functionality. (NILM19)"

I made a note of the activation code and have tried re-entering this but it now says that it is invalid even though nothing about the PC except for the TestStand software has changed.

Anyone got any ideas on why this might be happenning?

Many thanks in advance for any responses.

Just a bit more information - I've had a look at the license manager and for development it's saying that the software is activated on another computer. Please see attached.

Hi David,

DId you try activating the Base Deployment engine or the Development system? Teststand installs all of them and which one you have is determined by the license.

Hi Jon, We installed it with the following options checked on the installer :-

Teststand Engine
API
Version selector
NI Session Manager
Labview Runtime 6.1
Labview Runtime 7
Labview Runtime 7.1
Device Drivers

We think it must be something to do with some of the Teststand files that we are transferring over to the target system - do you know off the top of your head if licensing information is embedded in any Teststand files? I'm going to try and make a list of Teststand files that we are copying over.

Many thanks for looking into this for us.

Hi Dave,

Teststand files don't have any licensing information embedded in them. Are you installing the Teststand engine from the CD? This might be causing your licensing issues. It is best to create a distribution from your Development machine that will contain all the files you need. If you open up the deployment utility in Teststand (Tools>>Deploy Teststand System) it can create an installer that will include the Teststand Run Time Engine. For more information on how to deploy a Teststand Sequence refer to chapter 14 of the Teststand Reference Manual (Help>>Search the Teststand Bookshelf, the link for the reference manual is about halfway down the page).

Hi Jon, we appear to have solved the problem. I decided on the off chance to phone up and just check I'd got the activation code correct, and got a completely different code to the one I had before but it worked - really bizarre! We did install Testand and the drivers from CD and authorised them at the install point so something's happenned. I've checked the original activation code email I got for this PXI controller and it matches to the computer name so it must be something else. I've probably got to install some software on some other PXI controllers so I'll see if the problem re-occurs.

Many thanks once again for looking into this for us,

I need to deploy my test sequences to a target system.

The deployment tool creates an installer.

The installer puts a bunch of dlls and applications in National Instruments / test stand.

Anyway, how do I run my sequences. There is no association between any application and .seq files on the target system. No application shortcut called (run testand engine) or (testand test launcher). And no start menu shortcut to my test sequence or any test sequence.

Thank you.

penguinman23,

What version of TestStand are you using?
Are you trying to distribute an operator interface to the target system?
In order to install the TestStand engine you must go to the installer options tab and check the Install TestStand Engine box.
Now assuming that you want to distribute an OI, you need to create a workspace in TestStand and include your OI executable as part of the workspace.

Check the following post for more information:

You can also check chapter 14 of the reference manual:

Deploying TestStand Systems.

Regards.

Hope it helps.
