Missing deployment products

I am back to chip away another chunk from the iceberg that is this issue.  The first two errors are related.

**************
*** Error: Windows SDK function returned an error. (Error code -12)
The system cannot find the path specified.
**************
*** Error Details:
Error in MDF API function: _MDFDistCopyList_CopyItem
Windows function FindFirstFile returned an error. Error code: 3
*** End Error Report
**************

They are addressed in the following knowledge base article.

Why are some EULAs Missing When Including Additional NI Software in my Distribution?

Please follow the directions in this knowledge base.

On a related note, you mentioned clearing the product cache. This can clear portions of the

software that are not replaced.  You may need to do a replair install to return you program

to a stable state.

After following the instructions in the knowledge base, and doing a repair install, please try

to build and deploy the system again.  Let me know if any other errors occur.

Jensen

The two issues encountered in this post are also documented in the thread:

TestStand Issues and Web Content that you should be aware of

This thread will be periodically updated to inform our users of issues that we are aware of, along with links to useful TestStand web content.

Hope this helps.

I'd like to add an item to this list of issues:

When deploying from TestStand 2010's Deployment Utility to a fresh PC, I cannot install sufficient MAX and DAQmx drivers to get the PC to recognize a cDAQ-9174.  When opened in DAQmx, the chassis' self-test fails with a -50405 error.

There are a few DAQmx check boxes in the Deployment Utility's "Installer Options -> Drivers and Components" tab, but I cannot seem to get all of what I need regardless of what I select.  The only work-around is to install DAQmx via some other means (ie: Device Drivers DVD).

I'm using:

Windows XP

LabVIEW 2011

Teststand 2010 SP1

DAQmx 9.3.5

Will NI fix these deployment errors (or have already) soon?  I'd like to know what the plan is.

I still have couple of errors when I build deployment package but they don't seem to have any negative effect so I'm ignoring them at the moment.

twilson1111,

One other option to try: Have you tried changing which USB port you have your 9174 plugged into? I've seen that get rid of error -50405 for another customer before.

Hi Renee,

Thanks for the suggestion.  I've noticed on these forums that the -50405 error can be caused by bad USB ports.  I will give that a shot.  However, my problem has the characteristic that it will work in the same USB port that returned the -50405 error if I manually install DAQmx drivers via a separate install DVD.

twilson1111,

That is an odd characteristic. I'd be interested to see if another USB port changes this at all. Although this can be frustrating, it does work with the other install of the drivers. I'm glad this is the case, as you can continue with your project as you troubleshoot this issue.

I need to correct my previous statement where I said that I need to install DAQmx drivers separately for it to work.  That actually does not work.

What DOES work is doing the default install from the NI Device Drivers DVD.

twilson1111,

So do you have to re-install the drivers from the DAQmx device driver CD every time you want to use your hardware, or every time you add a new hardware device to your system?

Also, have you been able to test another USB port?
