TestStand 3.0 using 100% CPU

We're using TestStand 3.0 on at Windows 2000 platform straight from the sequencer editor with no GUI. When running a sequence with no fancy threading priorities or multiple threads the "seqedit.exe" grabs 100% of the cpu and the whole PC slows down. If you click one of the Menu drop downs "Help" for instance and leave it down the cpu is released and the whole thing speeds back up to normal operating speed (work that one out?!?). This is tried and tested code which runs with no problems on other machines but I can't work out what is going on. Has anyone got any bright ideas on what I'm missing?

cheers

Hi Tom,

Thanks for the reply but it turns out that's not got anything to do with the actual sequence I am running, let me explain. As an investigation I tried just opening the sequence editor with no open sequences and even though nothing is open and therefore nothing is running the seqedit.exe has 99% of the CPU (see screenshot1.jpg). If I drop down a menu then the CPU is released (see screenshot2.jpg)

I can't even think where to begin with this one. I've been through all of the options, rebooted the machine and still no joy. I might try re-installing TestStand next. If anyone konws of a check box somewhere labelled "Use all my processor" please let me know so that I can uncheck it!

I had a look around other Discussion Posts and I came across this Thread.

Take a look at it and let me know if this helps. As it states it has been fixed for TestStand 3.1, so this may be the only solution to this issue. Either way post back with how you get on.

Good Luck

I've done a TestStand installation repair which sorted the CPU 100% issue and we've disabled VNC server and so far it hasn't come back so possibly it's a VNC thing?! I'll let you know if we find any other information.

Cheers for your help.

Mike
