TestStand Usernames

Solved!

Hi,

I would like to know where the usernames and passwords are stored in teststand, so that I can copy the same file to updated version of teststand.

    This is just for knowledge.

Thanks,

krishna

Hey Krishna,

They are stored in the Users.ini file.  This is located in the Cfg directory in your TestStand folder.  So something like this: C:\Program Files\National Instruments\TestStand 4.1.1\Cfg.  They changed the location of the Cfg folder in recent versions of TS.  Also, the file changed recently from a txt file to a binary file so I'm not sure how portable it will be from older versions to newer ones.

In TS you can go to Configure>>Station Options.  Then click on the User Manager tab.  Uncheck the Use Default box and browse to the old Users.ini file.  If it works then you can delete the old one and move the new one over to the Cfg folder.  Then check the Use Default box again.

We have a Users.ini file on a shared drive and point all our test stations to it.  Then we can just edit that shared copy and all the stations see it.

Hope this helps,
