The 7.1.1 RTE should work in place of the 7.1 RTE.  Here is a link from the NI website to download the 7.1.1 LabVIEW RTE:

Hi serialdaq,

Can you check in the Measurement & Automation Explorer and see what versions of the LabVIEW Run-Time Engine (RTE) it shows that you have installed?

MAX RTEs.JPG

Also, can you check in the Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, National Instruments Software and see what versions of the LabVIEW RTE are shown?

Add Remove Programs RTEs.JPG

If it doesn't show that either LabVIEW RTE 7.1 or 7.1.1 is installed, you should be able to get the 7.1.1 RTE by installing the NI-FGEN driver.  The LabVIEW 7.1.1 RTE installs with the NI-FGEN driver and it doesn't check for newer versions of the RTE, but it is a large download so it isn't the greatest workaround.  If you'd like to try it, it can be found at NI-FGEN 2.8.

The only other option I know of would be to uninstall the run-time engines that you currently have installed and then install them again from the oldest to the newest.  This is also not the best workaround because it would likely require you uninstall more than just the run-time engines.

I will keep investigating better options, but please let me know what RTEs and LabVIEW versions you have installed now.  Thanks!

Hi serialdaq,

I was able to pull the 7.1.1 RTE installer out of the NI-FGEN driver.  Please download the LV711RTE.zip file from ftp://ftp.ni.com/outgoing/ and give it a try.  Let me know if you are able to get it working.

Hello Brandon V,

I have exactly the same problem. I have all the RT's up to 2010 installed, and am trying to use a program built with LV7.1.1. However somehow I have the LV7.1 RTE installed, while I need the LV7.1.1 version. Running the LV7.1.1 installer from http://joule.ni.com/nidu/cds/view/p/id/716/lang/en resulted in the 'Installation Aborted - A higher version' message.

So I was keen to get a copy of the LV 7.1.1 RTE installer without this test. However I could not see it in your FTP site. Any chance of putting it back there?  Thanks,

Hi BartSchroder,

I re-uploaded it to our ftp site.  The file name is LV711RTE.zip.
