error during startup

I had the system already up and running. Suddenly I get the messageBox when starting TestStand: "TestStand cannot update your system settings\nMake sure you have permission to edit your registry"
I'm logged in as Administrator.
Side note: I lost files the last time - perhaps the registry is corrupted?

Hello,
It sound like your registry might be corrupt. Are you having problems with other Software Packages?
If not, you might want to un-install, then re-install TestStand.
What about the Operator Interfaces, are they working? If they work, the TSEngine should be ok.
Do you get the error when you start TS? Or when Executing? Which files did you loose?
TS uses "National Instruments\TestStand 3.0\Cfg" to get configuration information when loading, so you defenetly need to make sure your desired info is there, else new, mostly empty files will be created.
In any case, I would defenetly suggest to re-install TS if the problem persists. Else, you might give a registry cleaner a try. I have had a good experience with RegCleaner 4.3 which you can download from the web.

Hi,
thanx for your tips. I also came to the conclusion that the registry is damaged. I'll try RegCleaner. If it fails I'll reinstall windows. Since also Excel and other programs are influenced I guess re-installing windows is the final solution.

To your questions:
operator interfaces? what do you mean? TestStand is running.
I get the error message when starting TS and then it seems to be OK - but Excel is dead.
Funny enough I lost 4 profiles - the complete directories are gone(sic!).
