<String Translation Missing> during TSEngine un-installation

Dear Sir:
I am currently using TestStand 2.0.1. The TestStand Runtime Engine work fine on intalled PCs. However, when I tried to un-install the engine, I got a dialog box with nothing but "" in it (as show in theattached file). I am using English as my default language and is reflected in the TestExec.in file. The engine runs fine.
Could you investigate why this happens and how to fix it?

Thanks,
HCL.

hello HCL -

Can you check on this machine that prior to uninstall you have the file 'ENGLISHSTRINGS.INI" located in the directory /Setup along with your EnglishUninstall.dll? Provided these two files are in place on an English OS, and that your TestExec.ini is indeed pointing to "English," then there is no known reason why you would get a message like this "" that you are seeing.

I will need more information before I can say whether this issue is reproducible or not. Was there anything custom about your installation or folder arangements? What is your NT service pack? Do you have other NI software on this machine? Do you notice this behavior on other NT machines in your area?

Hi, Elaine:
The machine that generates the intallation files has both files in its /Setup directory. The produced 'TSEngine.cab' also has the 'ENGLISHSTRINGS.INI' file.
However, the target machine that has the TestStand runtime engine installed does NOT have the 'ENGLISHSTRINGS.INI' file in its Setup directory (EnglishUninstall.dll is in the Setup directory). This seems to indicate that the installer somehow dropped the file in the process.
In my installation process, SetupTSEngine.exe was the last installation in the series. So I don't think the process could have deleted this file in any way.
Any idea? Do you need a copy of my 'TSEngine.cab' or SetupTSEngine.exe to debug this problem?

Thanks,
HCL.

Hi, Elaine:
Another piece of information regarding this problem: I have removed the CVI runtime in the TestStand installation and swapped the LV602's LVRTEINSTALL.EXE with the LV61 file (a renamed version of LVRunTimeEng61.exe). All these changes seem to work with the SetupTSEngine.exe without any problem.
My overall installation process flow is the following: GPIB 488.2 v1.70, CVI runtime v6, and SetupTSEngine.exe.
This problem happens on both NT4.0 and Windows2000 computers I have tested.

Thanks,
HCL.

Hello HCL:

I have reproduced your issue here but unfortunately there is no work around currently. I know it is being addressed for the next release but I will go ahead and add your information to the report so that they are aware you also are inconvenienced by the lack of strings on the 'Confirm Uninstall' dialog box. The buttons should be 'OK' and 'Cancel' from left to right.

As an aside, no there is nothing wrong with your installation order or the replacement of older runtime engines for CVI and LabVIEW, those changes wouldn't affect how the installer runs.
