Is there any problem with modifying the EDID on a 1491 to use the CEA EDID Extension Version 3 data format?
I need to add audio extensions so that I can verify 6 and 8 channel audio since the default EDID is for 2 channel audio only.
If I extend the audio through the EDID, will the 1491 and PQA SW (version 1.6) display and analyze the additional audio channels? I am currently using SPL and Single Tone metrics on both compressed and uncompressed audio.

Hi RGSchmidt,
NI PQA can definitely handle more than 2 channels of audio. For example, when you select the Single Tone processor you can expand out to more than two channels. As far as editing the EDID, I believe you can do what you are wanting, but I don't have the hardware to verify this at the moment. Hopefully I will have access to this hardware in the next few days.
