Project Title: Advanced Traffic Control with Artificial Intelligence
Hardware & Software Used
Hadware consist of the 16F887 PIC IC,ADC,Object Sensors,Sound sensors,MAX 232 for serial communication,power supply,and a personel computer with LabVIEW
Software is developed using LabVIEW programming tool
What challenge/problem are you trying to solve through your application:
In the existing system of traffic control timings are not based on number of vehicles in a junction,even if there is no vehicles in a particular path,green signal is given with
constant timing which is a total waste of time for othe vehicles that waits.
Preference is not given for Ambulance,Fire Engine or Police vehicles.
If there is only less number of vehicles in a particular side,time needed for them to pass and other vehicles to wait is less, which is not considered in the existin system.
How does your application solves the above mentioned challenge/problem:
Advanced Traffic Control enables to replace the signal controller in a signal junction.
System working is based on giving priority for lest number of vehicles in any side of the junction.
Time is allotted based on the number of vehicles in a particular side.
If there is no vehicle in 1 or more side signal will never move to that direction.
In order to avoid confusion in ,where the signal comes next,a precursor (orange colour)signal for starting the engine is given before 5 seconds to the green signal.
The maximum timing for each side can be given as per the research made on the signal (for our project 30 second is given ,which can be varied) .
Highest priority is given to side with the presence of Ambulance ,Fire Engines etc. so that such emergency vehicles don't want to wait in any junction.
If all the sides are filled with vehicles,the system works in the existing method and switch to advanced control,only if it is getting a chance to work more efficiently.
It is guaranteed that none of the vehicles wants to wait in the junction for more than the existing timing.
Description of Project:
Advanced Traffic control uses its Artificial Intelligence to think like a traffic signal controller so that the system can take decisions based on the situation.
The system can replace the job of a traffic signal controller in a junction.
The number of vehicles are identified with the help of sensors placed on the roads.
