RF testing using labview ?

Hi,

i had a interview today and one of the question was,  "What are in your mind the most important aspects to consider if you were to design a test and characterization system for our RF products?"

I have use labview many time but i dont have many experience with RF teseting. Can someone give me the answer ? and like on RF testing for newbie ?

thanks in advance...

Here is a link to community that I manage called the RF Developer's Network. NI RF Product Managers have contributed presentations, videos, some code, etc. over the last couple of years. Most of it is introductory in scope, but some of the presentations dive a little deep. Hope it helps.

I don't mean to discourage you but RF test is an art. Just being able to program in LabVIEW isn’t going to help much.  You need to know test equipment and their input limits, the output level of the UUT, modulation scheme, frequency, loads, RF propagation, measurement uncertainty, noise floor, etc…  Unless this is for an entry level position, you will not be effective.

thanks for the information. and yes it is an entry level position.

cool, if you get the job then you get to play with the really fun test instruments like spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, etc...  Your most important aspects will be frequency range of the UUT, RF input drive level, and RF output power.  From there you can start designing the basics of your test system.
