    Hi, recently I have just received a PXI 1033 loaded with 2 PXI 4110 on slots 2 & 3 and 1 PXI 6281 on slot 4. I have been given the task to test whether is the PXI 4110 functional or not. However, as I could not find any instruction manual to connect the 4110, may I ask how should I connect it to test the 2 PXI 4110s on my digital multimeter?

Hi Lance,

The terminals for each channel can be found in the NI DC-Power Supplies Help. You can look at the front panel of the PXI-4110 and hook up each output channel of the power supply to your DMM accordingly. You can also set and enable an output channel by using the DC Power Soft Front Panel (SFP). The Help file also has instructions on how to use this. Let me know if you have any more questions.

   I have a better understanding on the connections for the power supply now. It seems that the Measurement and Automation program is not able to do steps smaller than 100uA if the power supply is being used as a current source. I understand that LabView is required to control very small steps. Is there any example VIs for me to refer to for steps as small as 400nA?

Hi Lance,

I assume you mean the NI-DCPower Soft Front Panel when you are talking about outputting from Measurement and Automation. If you are using the 20mA range, you should be able to change the current in 0.001 mA increments since this is the resolution of the display in the soft front panel.



You can look at the LabVIEW examples for power supplies to use the DCPower API. These examples can be found by navigating to Start » Programs » National Instruments » NI-DCPower » Examples » LabVIEW.
