I have a PXIe-8840 that is configured for dual boot (hard disk drive that is partitioned with LabView RT and Windows 7). My IT department is insisting that I upgrade the partition with the Windows operating system to Windows 10. I understand that a duel partitioned disk with Windows 10 and LabView RT is not supported and is not recommended. As an alternative to a duel partitioned disk, can I add a bootable disk drive (USB or SCSI) to the controller and have Windows 10 on the internal hard drive, and Labview RT on the other disk drive (or visa versa)? Thank you for any information you can provide to me about this.

If you want to dual-boot Linux RT and Windows, although officially not supported (Dual-Boot Windows 10 and Real Time Operating Systems on NI PXIe Controllers), but technically possible. I had done that in the past. Use it at your own risk.
1. First install Linux RT using the provisional tool as it does not allow you to choose a partition but wipe out the entire disk.
2. Use GParted to Create and Resize the biggest partition for Win10 installation. I don't remember the detailed instructions for this step.
3. Install Win10 on the shrunk and unallocated space.

Thank you for taking the time to reply to my request.
Unfortunately, it is Labview RT that I need to use along with Windows 10 and not Linux RT.
